Our Story
Froggy Bottom Outdoors? It all started with three brothers, Shane, Chris, and Aaron Smith, right here in our little corner of the world. They saw folks having to drive miles and miles for good quality farm, hunting, and outdoor gear. Figured, why not bring it right to our doorstep? So they rolled up their sleeves, put in the sweat equity, and transformed their dad's old Husqvarna shop into the store you see today. Same family values, just a whole new way of serving our community.
Our Mission
Froggy Bottom Outdoors is rooted in those good ol' small-town values. Sure, we've got all the gear you need for your farm, your hunting trips, and your outdoor adventures. But we also believe in giving back. That's why we're active in the 4-H program, helping Blackford County kids learn and grow. And we're proud to offer local teens a chance to earn some work experience and build a strong foundation for their future. Because when our community thrives, we all thrive.

Our Team
Aaron Smith
Board Member
Aaron graduated from Blackford High School in 2001. He then attended Ball State University for one year before entering the workforce in 2002 working in general maintenance and then became a floor supervisor before he transitioned into the General Manager of Operations at Smith Consulting.
He resides in Poneto with his fiancé Ashley and 3 kids, a senior, 5th grader and 4th grader.
In his free time, he enjoys fishing, being in the outdoors, coaching softball and baseball, running his kids around to activities, riding 4 wheelers and helping others with general construction projects.
Chris Smith
Board Member
Chris graduated from Blackford High School in 2000. When finished he attended college at Indiana University, majoring in general studies. In 2007 he then began attending Ball State University where he received his bachelor's degree in accounting.
He resides in Hartford City with his significant other Maria, and their children, ages 14, 12, 11, and 6 who attend Blackford and a 19 year old who attends Ivy Tech.
In his free time he spends it with his kids, he enjoys sports, coaching 7th grade basketball, camping, boating, and making it to the Smokey Mountains when time allows.
Shane Smith
Board Member
Shane graduated from Blackford High School in 1997 on a Friday and on Monday he had joined the workforce and began pouring concrete. He continued to work for a local business until 2006 when he started up his own business doing concrete work and pole barns. Two years ago, he joined forces with his brothers who all continue to work together today. SJ Smith Property Maintenance grew into Habitat Maintenance and now is Froggy Bottom Outdoors.
He resides in Hartford City with his wife and their 4 kids who all attend Blackford Schools.
In his free time, he loves spending time outdoors, deer hunting, coon hunting, and being an outdoorsman.
